Medium duty commercial trucks will have a GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) of 3, 4, and 5. Medium duty commercial trucks will include mainly medium duty commercial cargo vans, medium duty utility trucks, and a lot of box trucks. While the medium duty commercial trucks are smaller and lighter than the heavy duty trucks you can still get a lot of work done with them.
Medium duty trucks that fall into Class 3 will have a GVWR range of 10,001-14,000 lbs. Among the medium duty commercial trucks are the GMC W4500, the Ford F350, and the Chevrolet G3500. A very popular medium duty commercial pickup truck is the Dodge 1500 Ram which is a class 3 truck.
Class 4 medium duty commercial trucks weight between 14,001-16,000 lbs. The Chevrolet C3500 is a medium duty stake body truck while the UD 1800 makes a good car carrier. The Sterling Acterra and International 4700 are two more great medium duty commercial utility trucks.
The Ford F550 with a contractor body is an example of a Class 5 medium duty commercial truck. Class 5 trucks weigh in the range of 16,001-19,500 lbs.
